Bringing Solar Water Pumping to the Waiheke Community

Solano Esteche

At GridFree, we love seeing solar power put to practical use in local communities. That’s why we were pleased to support Electrify Waiheke earlier this year, an initiative connected with Rewiring Aotearoa, by supplying a Back Gully Kit for a solar water-pumping demonstration at the local market.

Video above, shared by Roland, showing the Back Gully Kit in action.

The kit helped bring the demonstration to life, showing how solar-powered equipment can be used for practical applications beyond simply powering a home.

Electrify Waiheke is part of Rewiring Aotearoa's wider movement to help communities explore the benefits of electrification and make informed choices about how they generate and use energy. Demonstrations like this are a great way to make these technologies more tangible, helping people see what’s possible for themselves.

We’re proud to play a small part in initiatives that bring practical energy solutions closer to home. Whether it’s powering a cabin, supporting life off-grid or helping demonstrate new ways to use solar energy, our goal remains the same: to help more Kiwis enjoy the freedom and independence that comes with the right energy setup.

Thanks, Rolan and the team.
