GridFree Double Solar Carport - 7.125kW | 15 x 475W Solar Panels
The GridFree Double Solar Carport turns an ordinary parking area into a productive solar asset.
Designed to accommodate two vehicles, the freestanding structure supports 15 x 475W Risen Tier 1 bifacial N-Type TOPCon solar panels in a 3 x 5 layout. This creates a 7.125kW solar array while providing useful shade and weather protection for the vehicles underneath.
It is an excellent alternative where the existing roof is unsuitable for solar, has limited usable space, faces the wrong direction or is already fully occupied.
The carport can be configured as part of a standard grid-tied solar system or paired with a hybrid inverter, WHES PowerPod battery storage and an EV charger. This allows the solar energy generated above the vehicles to power the property, charge a battery or help charge an EV.
Suitable for residential properties, farms, workshops, offices, commercial buildings and customer parking areas.

STANDARD GRID-TIED SOLAR
Solar energy generated by the carport is used by the property, with surplus generation exported to the grid where permitted.
SOLAR WITH BATTERY STORAGE
Pair the carport with a WHES PowerPod or another compatible hybrid solar system. Surplus daytime generation can charge the battery for use later in the day.
SOLAR WITH EV CHARGING
Add a compatible EV charger and use solar generation to help charge an electric vehicle parked underneath the carport.
SOLAR, BATTERY AND EV CHARGING
Combine the carport with a WHES PowerPod, ECOS energy management and a compatible WHES EV charger for an integrated solar, battery and vehicle charging system.
WHY INSTALL A SOLAR CARPORT?
A solar carport creates a new solar generation surface without relying on the existing building roof.

The bifacial panels may also collect some additional light from underneath the array where the ground surface and site conditions allow.
PANELS FORM THE ROOF CANOPY
The solar panels form the main carport canopy and provide shade and useful weather protection.
Final water management, drainage, panel sealing and weatherproofing details must be confirmed as part of the site-specific design and installation. The carport should not be represented as completely weathertight until these details have been assessed and completed by the installer.

Do not construct foundations using the general dimensions alone. Final footing and anchoring requirements must be confirmed for the installation site.
CONSENT AND ENGINEERING
Building consent, engineering and planning requirements vary between properties and local councils.
Some ground-level carports may qualify for a building consent exemption, but the work must still comply with the New Zealand Building Code, relevant district plan requirements, boundary restrictions and the conditions of any applicable exemption.
The property owner should confirm the requirements with their local council, Licensed Building Practitioner or Chartered Professional Engineer before ordering or commencing site work.
The supplied drawing uses a design wind speed of 55m/s. Final suitability, foundations and structural compliance must still be confirmed for the installation address.
Snow loading is not specified in the current drawing and must be assessed separately for alpine or high-snow locations.
INSTALLATION
The structure should be assembled by suitably experienced construction professionals. All solar and electrical work must be completed and certified by a New Zealand registered electrician.
