The WHES PowerPod is an all-in-one residential solar and battery system designed for New Zealand properties with three-phase power.

Combining a three-phase hybrid inverter, modular lithium battery storage and intelligent energy management in one streamlined unit, the PowerPod helps homeowners use more of their own solar energy, reduce reliance on the electricity grid and maintain backup power during an outage when correctly configured.

GridFree offers the PowerPod with a 10kW or 13kW three-phase inverter and battery storage ranging from 9.98kWh to 29.94kWh. This makes it suitable for larger homes, high-consumption households, three-phase appliances and properties requiring a substantial solar array.

The integrated, stackable design simplifies installation and provides a cleaner finish than systems made up of separate inverter and battery components.

Why Choose a Three-Phase System?

A three-phase solar and battery system distributes power across all three phases of the property. It is designed for homes and buildings with a three-phase electrical supply, particularly where larger loads or three-phase equipment are present.

The WHES PowerPod also supports up to 110% unbalanced output. This allows the system to provide different amounts of power across each phase according to the property’s actual energy demand, improving solar self-consumption where loads are not evenly balanced.

Flexible Battery Capacity

Choose the battery capacity that best matches your household’s energy consumption and backup requirements:

  • 9.98kWh – compact storage for lower overnight consumption
  • 14.97kWh – balanced storage for everyday residential use
  • 19.96kWh – increased capacity for larger households
  • 24.95kWh – extended storage for high-consumption homes
  • 29.94kWh – maximum integrated capacity for greater energy independence and backup coverage

Up to five PowerPod systems can be connected in parallel, providing additional inverter output and battery capacity for larger residential or light-commercial applications. Final capacity is subject to system design and installation requirements.

Solar and Backup Capability

The 10kW and 13kW models both support up to 20,000W of connected solar capacity. Two independent MPPT trackers provide flexibility when designing solar arrays across different roof orientations.

During a grid outage, the PowerPod can switch to backup operation in less than 10ms. Backup performance depends on the selected inverter, battery capacity, connected loads and the property’s backup-circuit design.

Smart Energy Management

The WHES ECOS monitoring platform provides real-time visibility of:

  • Solar generation
  • Household energy consumption
  • Battery state of charge
  • Grid import and export
  • System operating status

The platform also supports remote updates, self-diagnosis and energy-performance analysis.
