Here's what Aidan had to say about his kit, and his experience with GridFree:
This is my Tiny House off grid solar set up.
I had looked high and low for good solar equipment providers in NZ. For months. Must have called every single seller in NZ. Most of them wanted 12k+ to do an install. Few are selling the parts at a reasonable price for DIY. I had looked at Alibaba etc. Which, if you're only buying a single set up, is not that much cheaper, and then you have the headache of warranty.
GridFree were really easy to deal with. Friendly, always on the other end of the messenger chat in working hours when I had a few questions about set up. They tailored / altered an existing bundle (their Bach Kit) to my needs. Specifically, I went for Lead Carbon batteries as it means I can have fewer batteries for a similar usable capacity. My house is on wheels, weight is a concern.
I have a 2kW inverter for my 240V needs. This feeds 4 plug sockets around the house (installed with help from an electrician, I have an eWOF). I run all the basics, toaster, blender. Most importantly, my (high end) studio audio equipment. Requires a good clean sine wave. Draws about 300W when it is all blasting (including desktop computer).
During sunny hours the battery doesn't dip at all. At night I can go for 4-6 hours before I hit 50% battery, which is where I've chosen to call the cut off for longevity of battery. It hasn't been a limitation yet - in winter.
Lastly, my lights are all 24V LED. Installed all that myself. It means I can have light without needing the inverter on 24/7.
Highly recommend these guys for your project. Stoked I found them. Cheers team!"
Thanks Aidan! We're always so stoked to get feedback like this. We know from experience how much of a pain it can be to get a small scale solar set up done, so it's really awesome to hear that we made it easy for people.
